Welcome to the Nicholas & Steele School of Art and Design for both adults and children alike situated in our colourful studio at our shop in Durham Road. Here, the ‘art terrified’ rub shoulders with the art qualified. In a relaxed and fun environment, discover the artist within in easy, yet challenging classes that require nothing more than an open mind and a healthy sense of humour. Each course of six weeks allows the young and old alike to experiment with different media in a non-competitive environment. Students will be shown in a mixed media approach, how to manipulate and use the medium to express themselves, creating pieces to be proud of. Most of our sessions are ‘flop proof’ so no need to worry about your product. We truly believe that every person has the potential to be an artist and all it takes is a little practice and a healthy dollop of self-belief. Similar principles are adhered to in our children and young adult classes. We provide young, creative souls with a platform to express themselves and their creativity in a fun, yet warm and safe environment not governed by outcomes but rather by the joy of creativity.

Pencil, charcoal, chalk pastels, oil pastels, graphite sticks, water colours, acrylics, ceramic paints, pottery, paper mache, lino printing, textiles, glass painting as well as many other art and craft materials.
