A hand painted antique Romany made split willow peg.

These beautiful tactile wooden pegs were traditionally made by Romany Gypsy’s in England and sold door to door in the 19th and early part of the 20th century.

They were often made from hazel. The wood was split up the centre, then shaped and a metal binding was sometimes added.

Each peg is therefore completely unique and characterful.

Really collectible and rare pieces of utilitarian social history.

Perfect for use in a garden room etc.
